Plastisols can be used as durable coatings. They give different substrates new, additional functionalities. Are you looking for functional coatings for everyday use or under extreme conditions? The areas of application for our plastisols are diverse. At Follmann, we have been working closely with our customers for decades to develop individual solutions - including emotionalising solutions in 1,001 colours.
What is plastisol and how can it be used?
Plastisol, a mixture of PVC and plasticizer, is a paste that our customers apply to textiles, wallpapers, or other substrates in their manufacturing plants. The plastisol solidifies upon heating. We deliberately avoid aqueous systems where water must first evaporate – our plastisol is a solid. This simplifies the manufacturing process for our customers significantly. Plastisols can acquire various functions through additives, making their application areas very diverse. Lastly, we offer pPlastisol in many standard colors – and gladly in your desired custom color.

With this product range we offer solutions for coating textile substrates and reinforcing flat textile semi-finished products. We have qualified new raw materials to offer a new type of solution in these volatile times on the raw material markets. This ensures optimum security of supply.
The products also offer improved gelling properties. This allows faster and more energy-efficient processing during coating. In view of expected future regulatory requirements, the product is now also available with phthalate-free plasticisers.

Exploit the versatility of our plastisols
Our customised solutions allow you to realise your individual ideas. Combine the properties of our plastisols in any way you like, according to your requirements.
Some of the requirements our plastisols can meet are:
- Flame retardance,
- UV stability,
- Slip resistance or
- Sealing properties and
- antistatic properties.
A minimum B1 fire rating, i.e. flame-retardant or self-extinguishing, is required for events. Flame resistance is therefore the classic material used by open-air festival operators, for example, to cover stages and cordon off individual areas. The mesh-like open fabric ensures that the wind does not tear the fences and coverings. Manufacturers use flame-retardant PVC. We also add flame retardants to our PVC plastisols as required. This ensures the safety of the event in terms of fire protection.
Whether it's orange-coloured ski slope fences, green or white avalanche fences or shading grids, for example for outdoor areas for animals or stables - materials reinforced with plastisols can be found in many places. The advantage: the textiles are permeable to air and partially translucent. With Follmann plastisols, you can be sure that the grid structure with open mesh windows is optimally maintained.
Your applications for our plastisols
Our PVC plastisols can be used in the following applications, among others:
- Interior design, for example wallpaper,
- as a non-slip coating for floors
- as a textile coating in the Home Tech sector for technical textiles,
- for Buildtech (construction textiles), Agrotech (agrotextiles), Geotech (geotextiles), Clothtech (apparel textiles) and other diverse industrial applications in various sectors, as well as for
- Coating of pliers handles and clothes hangers
This is an increasingly common question: Can plastisols be phthalate-free? Follmann has the answer:
We also supply almost all plastisols free of phthalates.
Feel free to contact us with your specific requirements. We are versatile in our use of plasticizers and are not committed to any particular type. While phthalate-containing plastisols are commonly used in many applications due to their durability, especially in outdoor environments like roofing membranes that can last up to 30 years, we are committed to offering phthalate-free alternatives. At our customers' request, we can readily switch the production of any of our plastisol products to be phthalate-free.
In the future, we will also focus more on biodegradable coatings and similar sustainable solutions. Currently, we are increasingly producing plastisols without PVC.
